Under the direction of established Austin musician Geno Gottschall, the Crockett Orchestra is setting up for the future of Orchestral music as we know it. The Crockett Orchestra is a diverse group of young musicians who have accepted the challenges of our ever-changing world, and are looking forward to a bright future!
The Crockett Orchestra prides itself in a rich, storied tradition of excellence since the 1960s.
UIL Contests, TMEA, Austin All-City, Austin Youth Orchestra
The Crockett Orchestra regularly participates in UIL Concert & Sight-Reading Contests in the String division as well as the Full Orchestra divisions where it is joined by members of the Crockett Cougar Band.
Members of the Orchestra also annually participate in UIL Solo & Ensemble and Texas State Solo & Ensemble Contests, TMEA Region auditions, All-City Orchestra, and the Austin Youth Orchestra
Collaborations
The Crockett Orchestra loves to perform with other groups both on and off campus. We regularly perform with the Crockett Band, Choir, Mariachi and Guitar programs, as well as our feeder middle schools such as Bedichek and Covington. We also perform at Austin High's Halloween Monster Concert.
Crockett Mariachi de Oro
Several members of the Crockett Orchestra also perform with the vaunted Mariachi De Oro, Crockett's esteemed Mariachi ensemble.
Crockett Orchestra and the Austin Symphony Orchestra
In 2022, the Crockett Orchestra was selected to work with the Austin Symphony Orchestra on a composition project. The theme of the composition was "Standing up to Oppression". Students worked with world-renown composers and members of the Austin Symphony to create a meaningful, lasting musical work for the Austin Symphony to perform.
